about
I wrote this song when I heard of the possibility of my beautiful place of birth, Gippsland ,being devastated by fracking. To help prevent this, I wanted to share a better alternative. Growing hemp is what came to me.
I knew of the many ways this amazing plant can be used and also of how it had been a victim of propaganda, in the early 20th century. Many of the myths about it are still believed today.
My song joins with the forces of many others, to clear the fear and restrictions placed upon Hemp's usage and growth. When we can freely grow it, we can receive all the blessings that this sacred plant was intended to give us- food, shelter, clothing, medicine and so much more.
Heavenly Hemp,
Let's get you back in the ground,
Heavenly Hemp ,
You can turn our world around.
1) Nobody need starve anymore,
You grow everywhere,
giving so much goodness,
and needing little care,
Let's put you back on our plates,
you cool super food,
and another bonus is,
you taste so darn good.!
Chorus
2) You can take the pressure off our forests for good,
with paper and building,
keeping all that wood,
in our precious trees,
So many sighs of relief,
we would all hear,
from our forest wild life,
Aah! Our homes we can keep.
Chorus
3) Cleaning up our soil is what you do so well,
On abandoned farming land
and even Chernobyl.
But that is not
where you stop,
Next comes biofuel,
from your toxic laden crop,
to run our machinery.
Chorus
4) You absorb more carbon than all our trees,
but instead of ten years,
you grow in six months with ease.
Come on Let's plant
you everywhere,
Help take away the fear,
"You're our climate change hero
Listen to us cheer!
Chorus
5) Of your healing powers the Ancients did know.
Records go back
4,000 years ago,
Such a wonder herb,
You can ease our suffering,
as we set you free,
to be the balm for humanity,
that you were meant to be.
Chorus
Chorus repeated.
